The afternoon ended with a drive through Oud-Zuid, a quarter with very classy homes and elegant streets. It borders Vondel Park on one side and the Museum Quarter on the other.
The tree-lined streets have a rare serenity.
The homes are stately and classic....
.... in contrast to the very here-and-now air of activity glimpsed in Vondel Park.
Two things caught my eye. Tiled entrances are one.

I am also increasingly fascinated by the juxtaposition of building styles and by the lines formed by building structures. This is a great example of the first:
